Nøgne Ø # 100

Postby Gadreel on Sat 24 Oct, 2009 7:55 pm

I picked this Norwegian microbrew up at Brouwerij de Molen and decided the weather was finally bad enough to open it. This is something you should save for Winter when you're going to be in for the night and want to take it easy, with style.

The light and fresh smell didn't match the color, but the taste of orange peel comes after the bitter hops. Very nice.

Talking about beer on this website! Wonders will never cease.

Nøgne Ø make some great beers. Other scandanavians doing really great stuff right now are Mikkeler and Amager from Denmark and if you can get your hands on anything from Närke (Sweden) you'll be in heaven. The shop at de Molen is the best place to get this kind of stuff but the Bierkoning does have a decent range.

The BeerTemple also sells a small selection if you don't mind the expense of drinking this stuff in a café...

I think we'll be seeing a lot of beer from up north around here. A lot of my customers are starting to get interested.

My interests seem to be traveling further north as well. I love the Belgians but my tastes are moving towards more bitter.
