Het IJ Brouwerij is probably Amsterdam's best kept secret, being in the east of the city and away from the tourist areas. It's well worth the 5 minute ride on Bus 22 from Centraal Station, however. It's one of Amsterdam''s few small breweries, located next to an enormous windmill on the canals, and offers at least 5 homemade beers at very inexpensive prices. The opening times are a bit odd, from 3 PM to 8 PM Wednesday to Sunday. The locals love this place as well and it's always busy, so be prepared to stand until a table opens up, or just sit outside by the canal.
