This is a very nice bar, all things considered. The ground floor bar is fairly normal, but has a much wider variety of beers on tap and in bottle than is usual for a Dublin pub. They are quietly pushing a gastropub thing, so food is above average (well above average, given most pubs in Dublin dont go in for more than a toasted sandwich and a bag of crisps).
The upstairs bar (open from Thursday through Saturday I think) is decked out in the latest taproom technology, proudly displayed in a kind of fish tank. The seating looks like it is modeled on a German beer hall, with long benches.
Lots of good stuff on tap, and usually some seasonal guest beers. On a recent visit, I tried O'Hara's stout, Galway Hooker and Budvar on tap, and some Anchor Steam on bottle. Upstairs gets quite packed on Fridays and Saturdays.
It is located on Christ Church Street, just opposite the cathedral, at the end of Dame Street. Although but a modest hurl from Temple Bar, it remains a quiet place for a few quality beers.
